How much do custom curtains cost?

Custom made curtains ordered online cost $173 for a sheer S-Fold pair on an 1800 mm window and $355 for a thermal pinch pleat pair on a 2400 mm window, including GST. Showroom measure-and-install services usually quote more because the visit and installation are built in.

What drives the cost

Fabric is bought by the metre, and curtains use more fabric than the window is wide. S-Fold uses 2.2 metres of fabric per metre of track, pinch pleat about 2. So a 3000 mm sliding door needs around 6.6 metres of fabric width before hems. That is why width moves the price far more than drop.

Fabric weight is next. Sheer is the lightest and cheapest. Thermal has an extra backing and is the heaviest.

Online vs in-home service

With a measure-and-install service you pay for the visit and the fitting as well as the curtains. Ordering online, you measure and hang them yourself, and we check your measurements against a photo before anything is cut.

Prices include GST and were checked on 27 October 2026. They come from the same calculator as the product pages.

Common questions

Are custom curtains worth it over ready-made?

Ready-made curtains come in a few fixed widths and drops, so most windows end up with curtains too short, too narrow or bunched. Custom curtains are cut to your track and floor, which is what makes them look finished.

What is the cheapest custom curtain?

A sheer pinch pleat on a small window. A 1200 mm sheer pair starts at $149.

How much are curtains for a whole house?

Add up each window from the price guide. A typical three-bedroom home with five 1800 mm windows in blockout comes to about $1,180 before delivery.
