Made to measure vs ready made curtains
Ready-made curtains come in fixed widths and two or three drops. Made-to-measure curtains are cut to your track and floor and start at $149 for a small window. If your window matches a ready-made size, ready-made is cheaper. If not, made to measure is the only way to avoid curtains that are too short or too narrow.
Where ready-made falls short
Australian homes have drops from about 2100 to 3000 mm and tracks from 1200 to 5000 mm. Ready-made curtains cover a handful of those sizes, so most windows end up with a gap above the floor or hemming work.
Fullness
Ready-made panels are often sold at around 1.5× fullness, which looks flat when closed. Made-to-measure S-Fold uses 2.2×.
