How to wash and care for curtains
Wash sheer and linen-look curtains on a cold, gentle cycle and hang them back on the track to dry. Blockout curtains can usually go on a cold gentle cycle too, but never in a tumble dryer. Thermal curtains with an insulating back should be spot cleaned or hand washed cold. Always check the care label first.
Care by fabric

|---|---|---|---|
| Sheer | Bondi, 90 gsm | Machine wash cold, gentle, in a laundry bag | Hang on the track while damp |
| Linen-look | Byron, 220 gsm | Machine wash cold, gentle | Hang on the track; steam out creases |
| Blockout | Otway, 280 gsm | Cold gentle cycle or hand wash | No tumble dryer, no hot iron |
| Thermal | Alpine, 360 gsm | Spot clean, or hand wash cold | Never tumble dry or iron the back |
General care for our fabrics. The care label sewn into each curtain is the final word.
Before you wash
Take the curtains down and remove the S-Fold gliders or pinch pleat hooks. Shake out the dust outside. If a stain is the only problem, spot clean with cool water and a little mild detergent instead of washing the whole curtain.
Drying
Hang curtains back on the track while they are still slightly damp. Their own weight pulls the creases out and they dry to the right length. Tumble dryers shrink fabric and can crack blockout and thermal backings.
Sun and fading
Strong afternoon sun fades any fabric over time, darker colours and sheers most. On west-facing windows, a sheer in front of a darker curtain takes the sun and protects it.
